Tornadoes flatten the city of Los Angeles and a tidal wave engulfs New York City. Almost immediately the entire Northern Hemisphere begins to freeze solid. Now, climatologist Jack Hall must rescue his son, Sam, who is stranded in New York City with a very small band of survivors who must ride out the growing superstorm and stay alive.
