He chooses South Korean citizenship but is enrolled in North Korean-run high school which is very strict and political. After a short time in this school he transfers to a Japanese public school where he becomes friends with a cute Japanese girl. Her parents have forbidden her to associate with Koreans and when she learns his true ethnic identity, she rejects him. A short time later she reflects on what she has done and accepts him. This film vividly depicts the complicated tensions that exist between Japanese and ethnic Koreans in Japan.
