The ward of wealthy Mr. Marvin, Pauline is engaged to his nephew Harry. When Mr. Marvin dies unexpectedly, it is revealed that he has left her inheritance in the care of his secretary, Mr. Koerner, until the time of her marriage. Although she truly loves Harry, Pauline wants to wait a while before marrying. She plans to become an author, and decides that to prepare herself, she must go out and have adventures. Mr. Koerner tries to turn Pauline's various adventures against her and have her "disappear" thus keeping the money for himself. Some of the perils Pauline faces include burning houses, kidnapping, runaway horses, sinking submarines, being left bound and gagged in caves and cellars, speeding cars, wild Indians, and hordes of rats

Originally produced in 1914. This version is a shortened, somewhat rearranged nine chapter version, which was released in Europe in 1916. The intertitles were translated into French and then rather carelessly back into English, filled with misspellings, poor punctuation, terrible grammar, and odd expressions.

MPAA Rating: Not rated.
