Summary: From the back of the book - "On the banks of British Columbia's great lakes and rivers and on plains in mountainsides, the Indian village churches chronicled in this book record profound revolution in Indian culture. Between 1860 - 1900, approximately 80% of the province's Indians became at least nominal Christians. Rough hewn-log churches marked the first firm footholds in the missionaries' Indian crusade of the 1860s. Within a generation, masterpieces of late nineteenth-century wooden churchbuilding stood in villages like Kitwanga and Sugar Cane....."
