Summary: From the dust cover - "Mrs.Simcoe's diary, describing Canada from 1791 to 1796, is history written ad it was being made. When, as wife of the first governor of Upper Canada, Mrs. John Graves Simcoe sailed from England with two of her six children in September 1791, the land she left was at the height of prosperity and fashion. The Canada beyond the sea was one city - Quebec - a couple of towns, and a few hamlets unraveling up the St. Lawrence system."
